As lithium ion batteries deteriorate over time, this articifially limits the lifetime of the product and makes servicing unnecessarily complicated. It also makes it impossible to temporarily ensure that no data is being collected and transmitted to any cloud service by simply removing the battery, or even to simply reboot the device in case of a software hang.

===Device becomes useless due to Bosch switching off cloud service (''2025-07'')===
In May 2025, Bosch announced that the device would effectively become e-waste later that year when cloud services are scheduled to be switched off. All associated data would also be erased from their servers.
