In early 2025, the automobile manufacturer ŠKODA Auto (subsidiary of VW group manufacturers of Volkswagen automobiles) announced the discontinuation of the Move&Fun mobile app, which was critical for ŠKODA Citigo-e iV (also known as Volkswagen_Up#E-up) owners. The removal of the app has led to several usability issues, including the inability to manage charging settings and monitor vehicle status, raising concerns among customers.
Application discontinuation
The discontinuation of the Move&Fun app has resulted in the removal of critical features that were integral to the driving and ownership experienceCitation needed. The inability to control charging currents and monitor vehicle status has led to widespread dissatisfaction among ŠKODA Citigo e iV ownersCitation needed. The company offered an alternative through the MyŠKODA app, but it requires a paid subscriptioncitation needed and an internet connection, contrasting with the original Bluetooth-based, free solution.

Company's response
ŠKODA Auto stated that the Move&Fun app was discontinued due to "technical and security reasons" and encouraged users to transition to the MyŠKODA app. However, they did not offer a clear timeline or commitment on when the missing functionalities would be restored in the new app.

Warranty Claims
Several affected consumers have initiated warranty claims, arguing that the removal of essential features undermines the vehicle's value and intended functionality.<ref name="going-electric">

Claims
Consumers are claiming that ŠKODA's removal of the Move&Fun app without offering a suitable replacement constitutes planned obsolescence. Additionally, they argue that the company should honor warranties for the loss of core vehicle features.<ref name="speakEV">

Response
ŠKODA has not explicitly acknowledged the impact of these features' removal but has responded by pushing for customers to adopt the MyŠKODA app, citing technical and security reasons for discontinuing the original appCitation needed.

Outcome
Outcome of these claims is currently pending, with no clear resolution as of February 2025.

Consumer response
Consumers are voicing frustration online and through customer support channels, arguing that ŠKODA has removed essential functions without offering adequate alternatives. Many are concerned about the forced transition to a paid, subscription-based model that requires an internet connection, which adds a hidden cost. Some users are organizing collective action to raise awareness and seek compensation for the loss of vehicle functionalities.

Workaround
Although the Move&Fun app has been removed from Google Play and Apple App StoreCitation needed, users of Android devices can still download the apk file from from third party repositories and install it.. As of 20/5/2025, the VW equivalent app for the e-UP (Maps + More) is still available in both app stores and appears to be compatible with the CITIGOe-iV. Maps + More was updated in July 2025 with unspecified bug fixes to version 6.2.2, but the charging functionality appears to have been removedCitation needed.

CITIGOe-iV unable to connect to MySkoda app since 6 August 2025
I have received the following email from support@skoda-auto.com

"We have received an update from our technical department. We would like to inform you that the issue you are experiencing is related to your vehicle, which affects all remote services for MOD1 and MOD2 vehicles. Please rest assured that we are actively working on finding a solution. We extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you".

This is a Chatgpt explanation of MOD1/MOD2:

"What Are MOD1 and MOD2?

MOD stands for “Mobile Online Dienste” (German for mobile online services)—essentially the connectivity hardware/software versions fitted to Škoda vehicles.

According to Škoda's official communications, these refer to generations of the connected services infrastructure used in their cars
Škoda Auto
.

Key Details from Škoda:

Škoda groups vehicles by their MOD generation: MOD1, MOD2, later followed by MOD3 (and presumably MOD4). These classifications define the capabilities and limitations of the car’s connected systems
Škoda Auto
.

MOD1 and MOD2 vehicles:

Will lose access to most Škoda Connect services after the impending 2G/3G network shutdown in Europe, because their hardware cannot be updated to support LTE/5G
Škoda Auto
.

Exception: MOD2 may still support Infotainment Online, but Emergency Call (eCall) will not be functional for MOD2 (and MOD1 already lacked compatibility) once networks are phased out
Škoda Auto
.

The network phase-out timeline:

Certain countries (e.g., Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland) will start shutting down 2G/3G on 1 January 2026. The rest of Europe follows between 2029 and later years
Škoda Auto
Škoda Ireland
.

Summary Table
MOD Generation	Škoda Connect Service Support After 2G/3G Shutdown
MOD1	All connected features—including Infotainment, Emergency Call—will be unavailable
MOD2	Infotainment Online might still work, but Emergency Call will not
MOD3+	These generations are planned to receive over-the-air or dealer-based updates to continue supporting services post-network shutdown
Škoda Auto
In Context

These MOD classifications are not car models. Instead, they indicate what generation of connectivity system your Škoda has, which affects:

Whether Škoda Connect features (like Vehicle Status, Parking Position, Breakdown Call, etc.) will continue working after 2G/3G decommissioning.

Your ability to access Infotainment Online and Emergency Call.

If you know your car’s manufacturing date, you can check with your Škoda dealer or your vehicle’s documentation to identify whether it’s MOD1, MOD2, or a newer generation—this will determine which connectivity features remain available after the network shutdown."

If a solution is not forthcoming, surely this would strengthen the arument that Move&Fun should be retored, otherwise owners will be unable to set charging schedules.
I made some formatting changes to have the sources and links as references in text plus I made the gallery a slideshow as a suggestion as it is more usable to browse the screeshots this way. Of course if you have other plans feel free to change the gallery back.

I changed the page title to use sentence case (as per our style guide) but I also changed ŠKODA to Skoda. I understand this is technically incorrect but it makes the page easier to find by search for the majority of people using english keyboard layouts. == Source for app downloads ==
I have found APKPure to be a reliable source for downloading apk files for sideloading. It has a copy of the latest (and last) version of Move&Fun, v6.8.1.

iPhone users in Europe are able to install apps from sources other the Apple Store if they are unning iOS 17.4 or later. I am not aware of any such sources that have a copy of Move&Fun.

Overview
In early 2025, ŠKODA Auto Automaker (Part of German VW group) announced the discontinuation of the Move&Fun mobile app, which was critical for ŠKODA Citigo eiV owners. The removal of the app has led to several usability issues, including the inability to manage charging settings and monitor vehicle status, raising concerns among customers.

Background
The Move&Fun app, launched alongside the ŠKODA Citigo e iV, allowed owners to manage essential vehicle functions, such as charging control, real-time monitoring of battery status, and integrated navigation. The app used Bluetooth, providing a free, convenient solution for vehicle management, but was discontinued in early 2025 for unspecified technical and security reasons.

Incident
The discontinuation of the Move&Fun app has resulted in the removal of critical features that were integral to the driving and ownership experience. The inability to control charging currents and monitor vehicle status has led to widespread dissatisfaction among ŠKODA Citigo e iV owners. The company offered an alternative through the MyŠKODA app, but it requires a paid subscription and an internet connection, contrasting with the original Bluetooth-based, free solution.

Company's response
ŠKODA Auto stated that the Move&Fun app was discontinued due to "technical and security reasons" and encouraged users to transition to the MyŠKODA app. However, they did not offer a clear timeline or commitment on when the missing functionalities would be restored in the new app.

Warranty Claims / Lawsuit
Several affected consumers have initiated warranty claims, arguing that the removal of essential features undermines the vehicle's value and intended functionality.

Claims
Consumers are claiming that ŠKODA's removal of the Move&Fun app without offering a suitable replacement constitutes planned obsolescence. Additionally, they argue that the company should honor warranties for the loss of core vehicle features.

Response
ŠKODA has not explicitly acknowledged the impact of these features' removal but has responded by pushing for customers to adopt the MyŠKODA app, citing technical and security reasons for discontinuing the original app.

Outcome
Outcome of these claims is currently pending, with no clear resolution as of now 02/2025.

Workaround
Although the Move&Fun app has been removed from Google Play and Apple App Store, it may still be downloaded from third party repositories and side loaded.
