In 1998,  Nigerian military shot at protestors, killing two people and injuring others on Chevron's platform. The company was suspected to paid the Nigerian soldiers and flown on Chevron helicopters. The incident went to trial in 2008 as [[wikipedia:Bowoto_v._Chevron_Corp.|Bowoto v. In May 31, 2023, [[wikipedia:Progress_Software|Progress Software]] notified Chevron Federal Credit Union (CFCU) of a critical vulnerability in MOVEIt a widely used file transfer platform Chevron Federal Credit Union utilizes to store and share large files. The union launched an investigation, finding no customer information was leaked.
