Proposed rewrite

edit

It feels quite difficult to find good references for any of the claims on this page beyond anecdotes on social media. A lot of it can be chalked up to the general trend of enshittification, but apart from that I can't find hard proof of a "shorter lifespan" that the current page proposes.

Maybe it needs a different focus? There was the incident with Samsung cheating on TV benchmarks to make them artificially do better in reviews. There's Tizen OS ads/tracking as well, but that's a more widespread theme across smart TVs overall.

All that being said, please correct me if I overlooked any recent news about Samsung TV quality control and the like! TheSaltIsREAL (talk) 14:44, 5 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think that makes sense, and is would be a good rewrite for the page! the lack of citations here at the moment is very much an issue. Might also suggest a mention of Texas_Attorney_General_sues_multiple_TV_makers_over_ACR_user_data_collection as that would seem to fit well here Keith (talk) 15:44, 5 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks! I just wanted to make sure before making any sweeping changes. That's also a very good suggestion. TheSaltIsREAL (talk) 05:32, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
